Water Utilities Association (WUA)

The Water Utilities Association of New Zealand (WUA) was formed in 2013 out of the previously existing Senior Executives’ Forum. It is an unincorporated body which operates as a subgroup of Water New Zealand.

Its principal function is to discuss policy issues that affect the sector and to provide advice to the Board of Water New Zealand.

Membership is drawn from the management level of territorial local authorities. Each Council in New Zealand is invited to send one representative to regular meetings of the Association. Three meetings a year will be held in Wellington from 2016.

From mid-2015 it was decided that industry service providers should not be present when the WUA met, as Councils felt they needed a forum to discuss sector matters by themselves.

Water New Zealand provides administrative support to the WUA. Please contact John Pfahlert for more information. ceo@waternz.org.nz

The Association is currently chaired by Jo Bryan, Wellington Water.
