Tackling the problem of wipes blockages

Tauranga City Council has just launched a campaign aimed at educating the public not to flush wipes. Inappropriate flushing of wipes is a growing problem worldwide, and with that in mind, TCC have generously agreed to share the campaign concepts and material with other councils around the country who may be interested.

Go here to view a recent webinar on the Save our Pipes from Wipes campaign.

Go the Tauranga City Council website for more information.

Meanwhile, following the publication of new international flushability specifications (PAS 3) http://iwsfg.org/iwsfg-flushability-specification/, Water New Zealand has been working with our Australian counterparts on the development of joint Australian-New Zealand Flushability Standards that will help enforce correct labelling on wipes. New Zealand’s representatives on the standards group are Noel Roberts from Water New Zealand and Wally Potts from Tauranga City Council.
