Water New Zealand Guidelines

Biosolids Guidelines 2003 PDF Logo

The Guidelines for the safe application of Biosolids to land in New Zealand were produced by Water New Zealand in conjunction with the Ministry for the Environment in August 2003. The project was a joint initiative of the wastewater industry, central and local government and other key stakeholders. The guidelines contain information and recommendations to assist producer dischargers and regulators (Regional Councils) to manage the discharge of biosolids to land in New Zealand.

Produced in association with NIWA, these illustrated guidelines provide basic guidance for treatment wetland designers and operators with interest in plant establishment and management in constructed wastewater treatment wetlands.

Draft Oxidation Pond Guidelines 2005 PDF Logo

IMPORTANT NOTICE: During the 2006 annual conference, questions were raised regarding the value of the Draft Oxidation Pond Guidelines 2005 developed by the Ministry for the Environment. In early June, Water New Zealand in collaboration with MfE, held a meeting where a technical committee was established. The guidelines as they currently exist were discussed and areas in need of further work were identified. Watch this space for the final guidelines.

The On-Site Stormwater Management Guideline provides stormwater design professionals with the information they need to select and design appropriate on-site stormwater management devices for the majority of applications in New Zealand.
