Asset Management Team Leader - Waipa District Council

About Us

The Waipā District is one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand. It is anticipated that by 2050 an additional 25,000 people will be calling Waipā home. To prepare for this growth, and to welcome more residents to our district, we have over $300 million worth of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects to deliver over the next 10 years, including treatment plants, new reservoirs and reticulation renewals - it's an exciting time to be in Water Services at Waipa District Council!

The Role

The opportunity has arisen for a new Asset Management Team Leader to join our Water Services business unit. The Asset Management Team Leader's role is to lead Waipa District Council's Asset Management Team to deliver high quality, fit for purpose infrastructure plans and renewals programmes, and successfully manage new connections to our network. In order to achieve those objectives the successful candidate will need to work closely with our Strategy Team, aligning our asset management approach to our overall strategic direction, and have the ability to support and mentor others to grow their technical and leadership skills. Here at Waipā we have a strong commitment to investing in our people's growth and development, including our in-house leadership development programme; giving leaders the tools to competently and confidently drive team success the Waipā way.

What Are We Looking For?

Our successful candidate will have an engineering qualification plus a minimum of ten years' project management or contract supervision experience, knowledge of New Zealand engineering standards and regulations, experience with public asset engineering projects, and leadership experience and capability. They will also be a strong communicator and relationship builder, and have a desire to shape Waipā's infrastructure for the good of our communities, now and in the future.

The Waipā District - with key locations of Cambridge and Te Awamutu - is nestled in the heart of the Waikato, within commuting distance of Hamilton, and within easy reach of Auckland and Tauranga on weekends. Commonly known as the Home of Champions, and encircled by mountains and reserves, Waipā offers high performance sport (rowing, cycling and kayaking) and opportunities to get out into nature in abundance. Coupled with fantastic local schools and great house prices, Waipā is the ideal place to achieve true work/life balance.
