Team Leader - Water Supply & Wastewater

Team Leader - Water Supply & Wastewater

  • Rewarding career. Just add water.
  • Lead a team who are proud contributors to the growth of our community who put all their energies into providing peace of mind through water supply and wastewater services.

Water is a precious resource and this role is integral for the 'water in - water out' experience for Tasman residents - more specifically, to provide safe water at the correct flow and pressure to all customers while complying with consents and ensuring minimal sewage overflows or water leaks.

In this senior specialist position, you'll be leading your capable team of six by developing and motivating them using your proven leadership skills. This is a productive operational team of water and wastewater engineers and compliance staff - they have lots to achieve, and you will lead the way! You'll also have the benefit of being at the sharp end of the business meaning you'll often get the satisfaction of seeing the positive results of your efforts immediately.

Reporting to the Utilities Manager, this role is responsible for delivering on the water supply and wastewater activity management plans, overseeing the procurement and management of contracts, and ensuring compliance of all water supply and wastewater systems.

You can expect to work with a variety of customers, not only from within Council but also members of the public and our wide range of contractors and suppliers to ensure levels of services are met. It will be up to you to clearly communicate with them and build strong professional relationships so the Council's water supply and wastewater services continue to be robust and reliable to the Tasman community.

You'll likely come to us with a civil engineering qualification (or similar) and have several years experience in an engineering role in utilities network asset management, design, operation and maintenance. Experience in project management and having in depth financial understanding for infrastructure assets will also help you to hit the ground running. We see you as being the type of person who can think on your feet, communicate well under pressure and keep your team focused and informed on the current operational priorities.

On top of the intrinsic rewards you'll get from providing an essential service to the Tasman community, we also offer ongoing professional development, a variety of challenging and interesting work, relocation assistance, a day off on your birthday and a benefits package suited to your preferences.
