Asset Planning Officer - Water Services Team

Are you an experienced asset planner who wants to make a positive contribution to one of New Zealand's most scenic and vibrant districts?

As the Asset Planning Officer within Waitaki District Council's Water Services Team, you will be responsible for helping ensure the operation, maintenance, and development of Council's three waters assets is informed by reliable, timely asset information and planning aligned to Council's policy and service levels requirements.

The team is well-resourced and exists within a supportive assets group - providing plenty of opportunities for professional development.

The position

As an Asset Planning Officer based in our Oamaru office, you will be reporting to the Senior Asset Planning Engineer and responsible for a range of asset management functions within the Planning and System Portfolio - including ensuring the collection, storage and analysis of data is to organisational and industry standards, assisting with development of an asset criticality framework and managing its application, assessing three waters' asset condition and service performance and evaluating service limitations and failure risks to help develop maintenance and renewal work programmes.

This is a new role within a new portfolio area, so you'll also get the satisfaction of working closely with the Senior Asset Planning Engineer to help shape the way forward for the team's approach to asset management.

About you

You will have experience in asset management lifecycle planning, and systems. Developing and managing multiple databases and asset planning tools. The ability to undertake detailed analysis and report on outcomes. You will also have excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to anticipate issues, think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
