Taumata Arowai are committed to working in partnership across Aotearoa, taking our lead from Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Mana o te Wai, to regulate and influence the water services sector to improve outcomes.

If you're a passionate and driven individual who has great aspirations for our tamariki and mokopuna, then join us and be part of making a difference.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Our Lead Advisor Regulatory Delivery will play a key role in our Regulatory Team as an interface between our regulatory role and the world of wai (water).  You will provide your regulatory colleagues with technical advice and support about drinking water to assist them with their analysis and decision making in their roles as regulators.  You are often thought of as a SME, but this role is much wider than this - it's a mix of technical leadership, external engagement and operational delivery.

At the same time, you will be our key relationship manager with our large metropolitan water suppliers.  This will include engagement and collaboration as we work together to achieve the government's 2020 Three Waters Reform Programme. You will also lead our regulatory compliance programme with these water suppliers.  Your knowledge of contemporary trends and developments in the water sector (intern)nationally will contribute to enhancing capability across the sector.

Ko koe tēnei | About you

We are looking for someone who knows about water – our drinking water system and the issues associated with potable water and impacts on public health.  Your understanding will be formed by having a post graduate qualification in environmental health and significant experience working in the New Zealand water sector.  You will also have had experience in advisory positions where you have used your expertise to build capability to reduce harm.  While you don't need to have been a regulator, you must understand the application of contemporary regulatory tools and interventions.  You must have credibility within the water sector and have had experience working with iwi Maori and a diverse range of people and communities.
