  • Lead the planning of safe and secure water supply and wastewater services for Tasman's growing communities and unique environments.

This is a time of rapid growth for the Tasman region and change in water and wastewater requirements which means the scope, variety, volume, and need for water and wastewater planning and projects is growing. You will be at the forefront of planning for the needs of our growing community in a changing regulatory environment. You will be able to apply your skills across a wide variety of water and wastewater activities including infrastructure planning, policy, hazard management, and modelling to make a difference to Tasman's future. We will look to you as our lead advisor for water supply and wastewater infrastructure planning and ask that you mentor others.

Utilising your water and wastewater knowledge and experience, you will lead the development of policies and strategies to ensure Tasman has robust and resilient water supply and wastewater infrastructure now and in the future. As our specialist in this field you will develop our water and wastewater activity management plans, specifications for new developments, and take a lead role in guiding and commissioning water and wastewater modelling to identify network needs, constraints, and opportunities.

Your excellent communication and relationship management skills will be essential to share ideas and collaborate with staff across Council, developers, district health boards, iwi, community organisations, neighbouring Councils and our elected members. You will be a solutions driven person who can connect the dots and translate complex issues as you provide cross council leadership and specialist advice on water supply and wastewater. You'll likely come to us as a qualified professional and have previous experience in some combination of strategic planning, asset management planning, operations and maintenance, policy development, public consultation and civil engineering fields.
