Our team is responsible for ensuring that Council projects and physical works contracts (including water, storm-water, landscape, building, structures, sewer, and roading work) are managed effectively. Our focus is to ensure the delivery of the Council's Capital Programme. Working within our Technical Services and Design Unit, you will advocate high standards of contract management and quality contract outcomes within agreed time frames. Providing them with sound technical guidance and advice.

As a Contracts Engineer you will deal directly with the contractor on a regular basis to keep the construction on time, to budget, and scope. You will play an important role in dealing with any community concerns while construction is taking place and often be involved in tender evaluations.

Your background should be aligned to Civil Engineering, including one or more of the areas of wastewater, stormwater, water services, roading, or parks/landscape. Having a practical application, with experience in contracting or working alongside contractors would be an advantage.

You'll be a team player not afraid to deal with issues and have experience building and maintaining relationships with important stakeholders and contractors. You'll also have familiarity with industry best practice e.g. building and civil engineering construction standards (NZS 3910 and 3916).
