About the role:
In this hands-on role you’ll be a key member of the Asset Renewals team, helping to make sure our District’s Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants operate effectively and Plant assets are maintained to a high standard. This is a varied role but in a typical day you’ll be:
- Making sure the Plant operates seamlessly.
- Taking the best course of action to resolve/report any issues promptly
- Servicing/maintaining/renewing equipment
- Conducting, analysing & recording tests
We’re looking for a teammate with experience in maintaining plant & machinery ideally with a mechanical trade qualification or experience. You will have a National Certificate in Water/Wastewater Treatment (or be keen to commit to achieving a qualification in the field). Most importantly you will;

Operations & Delivery
Team Lead – Asset Renewals & Pools
Term of Appointment:
If accepted by the Appointee, as per the Taupō District Council’s Operation’s Collective Employment Agreement 2019/2021 – continuous position.
Days/Hours of Work:
40 hours per week Monday to Sunday, generally between the hours of 7.00am and 4.00pm. Will be required to provide second on-call backup to the operators on a rostered basis. Allowance for a half hour unpaid lunch break plus two paid 10-minute tea breaks. After hours work for call outs will be required.
Wage rate of $22.75 per hour to $29.50 per hour depending on qualifications, knowledge and experience of the successful applicant
Four weeks paid leave on the completion of twelve months service in addition to statutory holidays [or 8% gross taxable income]
25 days annual leave after three years’ service
28 days annual leave after five years’ service
As per Taupo District Council’s Sick Leave Policy
Employment as a Relief Operator Serviceperson is subject to a pre- employment drug and/or alcohol test and returning a negative result and a pre-employment medical.
