Compliance Officer - Water Services Team

Full-time permanent

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Officer who can help protect Waitaki's people and the environment through monitoring activities associated with Council's water, wastewater and stormwater services, and taking appropriate action when needed, to ensure compliance with legislative and consent requirements.

As a Compliance Officer within Waitaki District Council's Water Services Team, you will be supporting the efficient and effective delivery of three waters infrastructure and services to the community.

Our Water Services Team is a close-knit group of engineering professionals who pride themselves on close collaboration, high performance and continuous improvement. The team is progressive and exists within a supportive assets group - providing plenty of opportunities for professional development.

The position

This role will be based in our Oamaru Office and contribute to helping protect Waitaki's people and the environment through monitoring compliance with our Water Services bylaws, policies, and plans; educating the community on these where appropriate; investigating non-compliance and enforcing any required remedial actions, and assisting with monitoring Council's compliance with wastewater and stormwater resource consents.

About you

You will have a relevant tertiary level qualification and experience with consent monitoring and the consent application process. You will have a working knowledge of the New Zealand Drinking Water Standards and be competent inaccurate data recording. Your problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently will be one of your core strengths.
