Who are we?

Not only is water our most precious resource but it's a hot topic in the Wellington region and nationally.

As a trusted advisor to the region's Councils, we partner with the community, engineering consultants and contractors to deliver drinking water, wastewater and storm water services from source to sea.

Where you come in

As Programme Lead, you will lead the delivery of a programme of 3 waters capital projects to meet the needs of our Client Councils in the Wellington region. You will work collaboratively with our consultant and contractor panels to support them to deliver safely, on time, within budget and meet strategic outcomes, whilst understanding and managing the programme delivery risks. You will work with the rest of the Programme Management Office team to support the development of a positive and high-performance team culture of programme delivery through our supply chain whānau.

Being the Programme Lead is more than being technically capable. You will be confident maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders and enjoy engaging with senior leadership at a strategic level while ensuring that the right stakeholders are involved in managing any changes to the expected programme outcomes. You will also maintain programme coherence with strategy and planning, interface with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards. This will be achieved whilst proactively monitoring progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective actions to ensure that projects meet requirements to progress through the defined governance gateways.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Ten years of infrastructure-related project management experience, with at least five years' experience working on complex projects and/or programmes
  • Understanding of business case and investment drivers
  • Strong background managing performance within an integrated supply chain model
  • Demonstrable success delivering value focused programme outcomes
  • Involvement in a programme with significant community engagement activity and sensitivities
  • Good financial analysis and forecasting skills
  • Good knowledge of the Resource Management Act and consenting process

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing complex programmes, able to bring best practice processes to the management, planning, design and implementation of programs with a focus on expert delivery. You will so be highly numerate with a good level of commercial acumen, a team player with well-developed emotional intelligence who leads by example through demonstration of excellent leadership skills.
