Do you have experience in a water-related discipline, and are you looking for a new challenge? We are now looking for a self-motivated, customer-focused individual to join the Three Waters and Waste unit as an Engineering Officer - Water Supply.

Our officers play a vital role in the community and this could be your next step into a career where you are able to combine your technical knowledge and your people skills to instill confidence and build trust with your customers. You'll be providing technical advice and responding to customers' inquiries, so you'll be a confident communicator both in person and with written documentation.

As an Engineering Officer - Water Supply, you will be the technical interface between our customers and the council's water and wastewater activities. You will have the necessary skills to liaise with our customers to provide advice and communicate effectively. This position assists the Water Supply Security Specialist to ensure compliance with the council's water safety plans and the Drinking Water Standards New Zealand. The position is responsible for managing the ongoing back-flow prevention project and assisting in other activities to support the Water Safety Plans.

This position is also instrumental in helping the council to meet our strategic priorities and community outcomes of Ensuring high-quality drinking water that is safe and sustainable. The Engineering Officer - Water Supply will be applying their knowledge and expertise to meet these priorities and to allow us to continue to deliver a safe and high-quality service to our residents.

With extensive experience in a relevant water-related area and processes and systems, you will be the type of person who can apply your technical knowledge in a confident and meaningful way using your strong customer service ethic and good communication skills.

  • Hours of work: fixed-term for a period of up to 12 months
  • Salary: $58,989 to $80, 574 per annum
