Compliance Officer (Drinking Water) - Waipa District Council

To enable us to do that the Water Services team not only ensures our district has the infrastructure to meet the demands of our rapidly growing community, but also ensures safe drinking water standards are adhered to.

To assist the Planning and Compliance team in fulfilling this commitment we are looking for a Compliance Officer (with a particular focus in drinking water standards) to join the team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. This role will be responsible for providing effective monitoring and auditing of the Waipa water supply systems to ensure compliance with Drinking Water Standards New Zealand, by-laws, policies and management plans.

Ideally the successful candidate will have (or actively be working towards) a relevant environmental or physical science qualification, previous work experience within a similar environmental and/or compliance role would also be an advantage.

It goes without saying that excellent interpersonal and communications skills are a must, as is a good understanding and practical application of the RMA and Local Government Act. The role also requires the incumbent to be able to analyse and interpret data and reports to make informed decisions, therefore you must be a proficient in all Microsoft applications to enable you to capture, record and populate water sampling data. Please also note that this role works throughout the district so a clean full driver's licence is also a requirement for this position.
