Tauranga City Council operates two wastewater treatment plant to treat water to the highest standard before discharge into the environment. The plants use advanced activated sludge processes with tertiary treatment, wetlands, flow attenuation and ocean outfall. The Te Maunga plant is undergoing a significant upgrade to cope with growth and this new position will play a key role in the commissioning and operations of the latest technology in the industry.
We are looking for a Wastewater Treatment Technician, who will bring their passion for the environment-, excellent team work credentials- and can-do attitude to our high performance team.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining treatment plants and pumping stations, to ensure 100% availability and compliance with resource consents. This is a rostered position that will require weekend work and being on call at about every 5 weeks.
Your role has lots of variety, and will include plant operations, quality assurance, and some laboratory work. The plants use advanced SCADA systems that require a good level of computer literacy. Full training, mentoring- and development opportunities will be provided.

We are looking for someone with:
- Background in a Trade position or Certificate/Diploma in water or wastewater treatment
- A current Full Drivers Licence.
- Physically fit and able to scale ladders and operate manual valves
It would be great if you also had a forklift license and had completed confined space training (but if not, we can provide support and training).
