The Water Unit manages the reticulation network, water, wastewater & stormwater treatment plants and works closely with Council Asset Managers to delivery the 3 Waters renewal programmes and capital projects for the Waimakariri District Council.
The Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing districts in New Zealand and the fourth largest, by population, in the South Island.
As a Water and Wastewater Operator your role will be to integrate with the crew working on the maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. You will be responsible for undertaking operational checks, maintenance activities, data collection, water sampling and testing, and also be part of undertaking improvement and upgrade works on the treatment plants.
We are looking for people who have a professional and positive attitude with experience in water, engineering, construction, and maintenance who enjoy working collaboratively. There may be a need for call outs, roster duties and weekend work as part of this role.
You will need the following:
- Relevant licenses, including Class; 2, W, T, R (Class 4 desirable)
- Good knowledge and experience working in water and
- wastewater systems
- Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Site Operator Level 4
- Previous water testing and treatment experience
- Commitment to Health & Safety
You will provide exceptional service in a time-critical industry and have the ability to work unsupervised. This role requires an excellent level of customer service as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be a great communicator and have the ability to get along and engage with people at all levels of our organisation.
