Site visit to Te Kuru wetland stormwater and flood management facility

Networking

This site showcases Christchurch City Council’s six values approach to surface water management, addressing not only drainage issues, but also enhancing cultural, ecological, recreation, landscape and heritage values. During the site visit we will have a chance to observe and hear about the overall design concept, the actively managed hydraulic gates, stream restoration, how mātauranga Māori influenced design, wetland treatment, and the challenges of building significant structures in high groundwater and poor ground. Accompanying us on the site visit will be a number of subject matter experts to discuss different aspects of the work.

Please note that while the site is open to the public and we will not be visiting any areas with active construction, sturdy footwear is recommended. The site is quite large, and we will probably be walking for about an hour (with stops).

We will be meeting at the car park at 564 Cashmere Road at 5.30pm – location here: https://goo.gl/maps/UEhcUTBrTmja8Egr7.

Non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks will be provided by Storm Environmental.

If you have any questions please contact Peter Christensen at peter.christensen@stormenvironmental.co.nz or on 022 342 2164.
