Using Data to Lift the Performance of Water Services - Auckland

Networking

Internationally, water services suffer from aging assets, under investment and the growing impacts of climate change. Across the water services reform in Aotearoa New Zealand, data is being used to understand where problems are, what needs to be done to address them, and how to ensure that the right investments are made.

Michael Howden from Taumata Arowai will share insights on the performance of water services and will explore what data will be looked for in the future.

Emily Botje from the Water Services Reform will explore the work being done in compiling a national asset management plan which identifies what improvements and investments are planned.

Simon Thomson from the Commerce Commission will talk about the role of an economic regulator, sharing experience around the regulation of asset owners in other sectors in order to ensure cost effective investments are made.
