Day One:

  • Acts, Legislation and Codes relating to Backflow Prevention – This module is theory based.
  • Health (Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2007
  • Local Government Act 2002
  • Resource Management Act 1991
  • Building Act 2004
  • Backflow Prevention for Drinking Water Suppliers
  • Code of Practice 2006
  • Health & Safety in Employment Act 1992
  • Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006.

Day Two:
Installation Requirements for Backflow Prevention - This module is mainly theoretical but has a practical content where participants are given the opportunity to use backflow devices.

  • Air Gap
  • Reduced Pressure Zone Devices
  • Double Check Valves
  • Pressure Vacuum Breaker
  • Spill Resistant Vacuum Breaker
  • Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker
  • Detector Checks
  • Non Testable Devices
  • Pipe Design, for example, Dedicated Lines

Day Three:
Testing and Inspection of Backflow Prevention –This module has a theoretical and practical content, requiring test kits and testing of backflow prevention devices. (Note: Completion of Module 1 and 2 are a prerequisite for this module).

This course is recommended for Plumbers, Council engineers and contractors (installers, regulators and maintenance), Compliance officers, Water treatment operators, and Irrigation personnel (designers, installers and maintenance).

The course cost is $800.00 + GST for 3 days.
