Hydraulic Modelling Workshops and Tuflow Training Course

Training

In February 2018, Bill Syme and Phillip Ryan, with 45 years flood and coastal modelling experience including development of the software TUFLOW, are hosting educational and Q&A sessions that focus on challenges and new developments within the hydraulic modelling industry.

The sessions are designed for engineers, scientists and others undertaking or reviewing hydraulic modelling. Whether you’re new to modelling or a long-term user, have used or not used TUFLOW, these sessions will enhance your: knowledge of flood and coastal modelling; capabilities and efficiency as a modeller; and understanding of hydraulic modelling principles.

You will have access to two of the industry’s leading hydraulic modelling experts who, as experienced practitioners and software developers, offer superior specialist expertise on topics including: model review; when 1D, 2D and 3D solvers are appropriate; linking of 1D and 2D solutions; pros and cons of finite difference versus finite volume solutions; GPU acceleration; hydraulic structures; sub-surface pit and pipe networks; and 2D direct rainfall modelling.

The two-day hands on computer-based training course using the unique and powerful functionality of the TUFLOW software, including the new HPC (Heavily Parallelised Computations) GPU accelerated 2D solver, additionally offers an excellent opportunity to learn from the experts. The course is designed to suit both introductory and experienced hydraulic modellers.

The workshops and training course also provide an excellent opportunity to network and share ideas with other modellers, managers and environmental specialists. For more information visit https://www.tuflow.com/Training.aspx?nzbt.
