Public Forum Collaboration, consensus and community: freshwater democracy and the Hurunui River

Over the past three and half years, Amanda Thomas has conducted research into freshwater democracy in the Canterbury region,

focusing in particular on the Hurunui River and the Hurunui Waiau Zone Committee process.

Through this community forum, she will report back, and invite discussion, on findings relating to:

  • Collaborative and consensus based decision making in practice
  • Issues around community based decision making
  • Opportunities for dialogue and learning about ways of valuing freshwater.

This forum is open to the public and everyone is welcome.

Please RSVP by Wednesday 20 November to Amanda.Thomas@vuw.ac.nz or Suellen.Knopick@canterbury.ac.nz
