Steve Glassey has been instructing swiftwater rescue around the world for over 17 years and is a Level 3 Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Instructor with the International Technical Rescue Association. Upon registration, you will be asked to choose 3 top topics for Steve to present on.

Over the years he has trained organisations including the Queensland Fire & Rescue Service, South Australia State Emergency Service, US Air Force Special Forces (31st Pararescue Squadron), New South Wales Police Rescue, Queensland State Emergency Service, Queensland Police Service (Water Police), New Zealand Police (Dive Squad), Horizons Regional Council, Coastguard New Zealand and many more.

He is an Expert Witness contracted by the Coroner’s Court and provides advice on river and flood water related fatalities.

In 2014 he has named Global Instructor of the Year by Rescue 3 International and along with co-recipient Sergeant Geoff Bray (NZ Police Dive Squad) became New Zealand’s first and only recipient of the prestigious Higgins and Langley International Award for Swiftwater Rescue, following the development of a body recovery from water course.

He has worked for the United Nations as a Disaster Management Officer, including coordinating response for the World Food Programme to major flooding following Typhoon Ketsana. Steve holds a Masters in Emergency Management and is a IAEM Certified Emergency Manager.
