Come join the Canterbury YWP for some mulled wine at our Winter Social and Speaker Night on Wednesday, 24 July. We are lucky enough to be joined by Jan Gregor from ESR and Victoria Clark from Beca who will be sharing their experiences from working with water supply and sanitation in the Pacific Islands.
Jan Gregor from ESR will tell us about her work in water and sanitation in the Pacific Islands. She has worked across the Pacific for close to 20 years and has some interesting insights to share on the issues of progressing towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 for water and sanitation, working with government agencies and supporting regional initiatives, and achieving the ‘last mile’ – community action. Jan is the Technical Lead of ESR’s Pacific Programme. She earned her PhD in chemistry from the University of Canterbury and went on to become a postdoc fellow at Leeds University.
Victoria Clark recently spent 6 months working as a water engineer in the Cook Islands to improve water security in the Pa Enua. She will talk to you about some of the projects she worked on, the working environment in the Cook Islands and the experience of living in a remote country. Victoria is part of the Beca Christchurch water team and has over 5 years’ experience in 3 waters engineering, specialising in stormwater design.
There will be drinks (did we say mulled wine!?), nibbles and the usual chance to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the Canterbury region. Thanks to WSP Opus for hosting and sponsoring this event.
