Engineer's Representative & Contractors Representative

Training

This 2-day workshop is designed for those in the role of either Engineer's Representative or Contractor’s Representative under NZS3910 construction contracts, and those who aspire to these roles. More than a lecture, at regular intervals this workshop involves delegates working in groups on solutions to practical problems in contract administration. Delegates will gain a good understanding of the topics covered and comprehensive notes are provided for future reference, and are warned about potential errors and misunderstandings to avoid.

Both Engineer’s Representative training and Contractor’s Representative training are delivered in this workshop, because a mutual understanding of the two roles is important for each side, and many participants may find themselves alternating between these two roles during their career. This format has been well received by over 600 participants from local authority, consultant, contractor and subcontracting organisations and is IPWEA NZ’s most popular workshop.

Course Content
The workshop content has been updated and reformatted for 2018, taking account of the 2013 revisions of NZS 3910 conditions of contract, and publication of the new NZS 3916 for design and construct contracts. However for those organisations who are working on contracts let under NZS 3910: 2003 version, the workshop will cover how the old and new versions of the standard differ.

What to bring
Participants are recommended to bring with them a copy of NZS 3910 “Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction” (2013 edition) for their reference during the workshop.

Do note that a limited number of loan copies will be available from the workshop facilitator to borrow for reference during the event, without charge if returned unmarked at the end of the workshop. Alternatively, new copies of NZS 3910: 2013 can be purchased from Standards New Zealand, Private Bag, Wellington or via email to: enquiries@standards.govt.nz.

Workshop Facilitator
Andrew Brickell is a very experienced construction contracts practitioner and presenter, who also covers other topics in IPWEA’s training programme (expanded upon in the course brochure.) Andrew was the IPENZ and ACENZ representative on the Standards NZ 3910 revision committee, so he is well placed to explain the reasons for the important changes introduced by the 2013 revisions.

Members: $1,255.50 + GST
