  • Laying the Foundations: A Minimum Viable Standard for Asset Data - Greg Preston - Quake Centre

Getting the basics right is the foundation of digital development for the water sector. To this end the Quake Centre’s Building Innovation Partnership (BIP) is publishing a Code of Practice (CoP) which defines a minimum viable standard for asset data. From this foundation, we will present and share a number of tools to improve nationally consistent and automated methodologies for as-built capture; development of useful life, performance and risk of failure models for pipes, nationally consistent valuations; tracking infectious agents through sewerage systems; developing digital twins to assess the impacts of flooding in urban areas. We are also exploring the interoperability of data with other utilities to begin building a National Digital Infrastructure Model (NDIM).

  • Optimising Pipeline Routes - Thomas Joseph – Mott Macdonald

Leveraging the increasing availability of high-quality environmental data and advance analytics have led to the development of a digital Route Optimiser for the pipeline design process, making it possible to construct pipelines quicker and cheaper, reduce embodied carbon and whole-life costs to minimise social and environmental impacts. The Route Optimiser uses a powerful genetic algorithm to optimise pipeline routes in 3 dimensions, based on geospatial constraints, topographical inputs, engineering design rules, and real construction and operational costs.

  • From National Performance Review to National Performance Optimisation - Lesley Smith – Water New Zealand

The National Performance Review is an annual performance assessment of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater service delivery co-ordinated by Water New Zealand. Lesley’s presentation will focus on some of the most common opportunities for improvement across New Zealand. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to contribute their thoughts on where improvement is needed the most, setting the stage for the digital solutions conference workshop.
