The On-site Effluent Treatment National Testing Programme undertook testing of on-site wastewater treatment units (not including the land application field) at a facility located at the Rotorua City Wastewater Treatment Plant. This was managed in partnership with Rotorua Lakes District Council, Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Water New Zealand.
Performance certificates issued at each trial are below alongside associated test procedures. Certificates report how effluent quality of tested treatment plants compares to secondary effluent quality criteria defined in AS/NZS1547 and aligned with AS/NZS1546.3 using OSET test procedures and conditions provided for each trial. Performance certificates also provide benchmarks indicating performance efficacy for additional effluent quality parameters listed in the standard.
These certificates do not guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements, nor do trial results necessarily reflect performance under field conditions. No testing was performed on the integrity, capacity, or durability of systems. Detailed performance reports which can be used to assist with design and environmental limit setting are available on request from manufacturers.
