Response from Minister – Land access provisions and needs of water service providers in the Water Services Legislation Bill

We welcomed the changes to the Water Services Legislation Bill to provide for water service entities to have access to private land similar to what councils have now, and align with land access provisions for other infrastructure.

The changes were made by the Select Committee and followed an earlier letter by Water New Zealand to the Local Government Minister, Kieran McAnulty.

This is an important change and ensures the workability of the provisions in the Act. It also demonstrates the value of our advocacy role and the power of making submissions.
