Napier City Council is one of Napier's biggest and most desirable employers - we value excellence, integrity, sustainability and outstanding customer and community service.

If you are a Civil or Mechanical Engineer and keen to take a really positive step in your career, then this could be the role for you.

The Directorate of Infrastructure at Napier City Council are determined to further build, enhance and future proof their team to become a centre of excellence in roading and three waters design. We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join this great team.

Napier City Council is in the midst of an exciting period of positive change. Their plans for city enhancement are evident in their long-term plan, and there are some major projects on the horizon. Joining their Three Waters team will see you having great input into this region.

Are you ready to step into an operational engineering role? As Operations Engineer you will provide operational asset management advice to a wide range of stakeholders with the aim of ensuring efficient and effective operations of Napier City Council's Three Waters infrastructure. This is a day-to-day trouble shooting, problem solving role, relative to the Napier City's waste, storm and drinking water assets. You will be providing technical support to the City Services team in their bid to optimise solutions and investigate performance for critical assets. You will be contributing to asset management plans and involved in asset performance monitoring. This is a role that will see you at times, out and about in the field.

The ideal candidate will have a BEng Mechanical or Civil and real strength in operational environments. Ideally 4 - 5 years post qualification, yet someone who has the burgeoning leadership skills and can see a career in this great region, has a great shot at this role. Knowledge of Three waters engineering or utility operations and maintenance will be highly regarded. You will have a real balance of practical and technical engineering skills. You will be hands on and relate really well to field staff, but also have an evidence-based approach where you are entirely comfortable documenting and report writing.
