Gisborne District Council is recruiting an experienced diploma or degree qualified Civil Engineer to support the management of our district’s stormwater and wastewater networks. This position is well suited to someone with a practical mindset and excellent communication skills, and who enjoys working with others and is keen to develop their people leadership and engineering management skills. 

Success in this position will be measured by effective management and operation of the district’s stormwater and wastewater networks.  This includes delivering DrainWise, our ambitious wastewater discharges reduction program.  The role will be varied from procuring and overseeing consultant and contractor services to community engagement and staff leadership. 

Gisborne, known as "Tairāwhiti" (the light shines on the water) is a lifestyle location on the East Coast of New Zealand with a population of 45,000, stunning beaches and great climate.  Gisborne District Council are the proud winners of the 2019 LGNZ Excellence Awards for our work to grow and promote the well-being of our community and people.   The region is particularly popular with families, surfers, and skateboarders.
