Who are we

We manage the drinking water, wastewater and storm water services from source to sea for our client councils, who are the Hutt, Porirua, Upper Hutt and Wellington city councils, South Wairarapa District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council. We partner with the community, engineering consultants and contractors on water services projects, water conservation, operations work and asset planning.

Where do you come in

This role sits within Wellington the Network Management group, who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of treatment facilities for water and wastewater. They ensure that control systems and processes are in place, so our water networks are reliable and that they meet our stringent quality requirements, and ensures we are focused on technological innovation by investigating and delivering new smart services.

This is a great time to join Wellington Water in a newly created position. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering support and process advice to optimize the process reliability for the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants managed by the Network Management Group.

To be successful in this role, you will have in interest in the following:

  • Water and wastewater treatment plant and network processes
  • Providing process advice so that the water from source to tap and drain to receiving environment meets identified quantity and quality standards
  • Providing recommendations that result in the optimization of the treatment plant processes to manage the use of resources in a sustainable way
  • Ensuring that equipment and systems are reliable and operating at maximum efficiency
  • Ensuring that regular process reviews and asset condition assessments and programmes are conducted

Qualifications and role requirements include the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant area such as Water / Chemical and Process Engineering
  • Five years experience in process engineering, ideally in the water and wastewater sector
  • Water and wastewater treatment and network processes
  • Current NZ driver's licence
