Treatment Plant Operator (Wastewater)

We have a permanent full-time position available in our Wastewater Treatment Team based at the Nelson North treatment plant for an enthusiastic Treatment Plant Operator (Wastewater)

We have a dynamic team environment where the focus is on continual process improvement and optimisation always looking to the future. Out of the box thinking and a positive can-do approach to problem solving is must.

Key tasks in this role include:

  • Ensuring optimal day to day operation of the Wastewater treatment plant, ponds, and wetland systems
  • Monitoring and trending of plant data and identifying abnormalities based upon laboratory, process data, and site trend results
  • Working alongside an experienced team of operators and mechanical engineers
  • Assist the team with the pump stations and pressure reticulation network as required
  • Problem solving of treatment and mechanical issues and developing initiatives to further optimise the treatment process
  • Implementation of preventative maintenance programmes

The successful applicant will ideally have the following skills, and attributes:

  • A qualification and/ or relevant experience in the field of Wastewater is preferred, but full training will be provided for the right candidate who we believe will best fit into our team.
  • We’re looking for someone with excellent attention to detail and sound organisation skills, a willingness and ability to work after hours, good level of physical health and fitness, as well as reliability in your approach to seeing the job through, and a strong commitment to customer service.

Please note that applicants must have a current full drivers’ license, NZ residency/citizenship or a valid NZ work visa, and will be required to undergo pre-employment medical and drug screening, as well as a Ministry of Justice police check and an ACC check.
