Who are we?

Not only is water our most precious resource but it's a hot topic in the Wellington region and nationally.

As a trusted advisor to the region's Councils, we partner with the community, engineering consultants and contractors to deliver drinking water, wastewater and storm water services from source to sea.

Where you come in

As part of the Network Management Group our Capital Projects Team Leader will be responsible for the delivery of Wellington Water's Minor Capital Works Programme across the region's Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. Minor capital works includes renewals of critical assets and process reliability, operability and maintainability improvement projects. The budget for this work is approximately $5M for the current financial year.

You will contributing to both the Long-Term Plan and annual shutdown plans associated with the drinking water infrastructure. On a day-to day basis you will work collaboratively with our consultant and contractor panels to support them to deliver safely, on time, within budget.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • 10 years experience in a complex process plant or production organisation, preferably water or wastewater
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Process or Production Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification is desirable
  • Working knowledge in the management of change and fundamental project management principles
  • Knowledge of basic engineering principles, across all disciplines
  • Good financial analysis, forecasting and contract management skills

Being the Capital Projects Team Leader is more than being technically capable. Complementing your strong communications skills, both verbal and written; you will have excellent people leadership skills, be confident maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, alongside dealing with ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
