Compliance Officer - Water Services

The Waipā District (Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Pirongia and surrounds) is one of the fastest growing districts in New Zealand. It is anticipated that by 2050 an additional 25,000 people will be calling Waipā home. We in the Water Services team are preparing ourselves for the water reform transitions and are striving to be stand-outs in our field whilst navigating the on-going changing compliance environment.

We are looking for a Compliance Officer - Water Services to join our Compliance and Improvement Team. Our successful candidate will be one of a team of six compliance experts (including the team leader).

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Monitoring and auditing Council's three-waters systems to ensure compliance with resource consents and drinking water standards
  • Providing technical analysis and advise on three-waters compliance and water demand management
  • Developing green initiatives and programmes to educate our communities on water sustainability and conservation in order to drive behaviour change
  • Leading the Summer water alert campaign and Shared Services water management response
  • Conducting investigations into non-compliance and coordinate incident reporting and/or enforcement

We're looking for a candidate with the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. degree in Environmental Science, or another science) or equivalent learning through significant experience
  • Minimum of a year's experience in an environmental or compliance role
  • Knowledge of monitoring devices and sampling techniques;
  • Experience with data manipulation, time series analysis and using compliance monitoring tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
