Want to be involved in shaping your City? Here at the Council we know our strength comes from our people, working together as one team to create results. When you join us, you're getting involved first hand, and contributing to the City's critical core infrastructure. We're diverse and dynamic - there's always new and interesting projects to get stuck into, and we love creating opportunities for our people to get involved in it all.
The Three Waters and Waste unit is responsible for delivering sustainable water, wastewater and storm water services to the community. These services are delivered by both in-house staff and external contractors. To ensure the continued excellent service is delivered to the required high standards, this new role has been created to keep up with the demand of our growing community.
This is a key leadership position based in Bromley. You'll be managing a team of seven technical professionals who run a 12 hour shift operation, seven days per week, 365 days of the year. The team operate the City's water, wastewater and stormwater pump stations, as well as monitor the Council's landfill gas pipe and the tsunami alarm system.
You'll have the ability to drive a high performing culture and have a passion for positive change. We are building and creating a unit who have resources at their fingertips enabling them to make sound decisions and you will be able to research and guide them on best practice. You'll be someone who thrives on being in an evolving environment and your experience in process documentation and quality assurance in a world class facility will be utilised on a daily basis. You will also be one of the first points of contact when technical issues arise.
There is an element of project and planning work - you'll be heavily involved in maintenance and capital budgets with technical input. You'll be comfortable as safety audits occur and have processes in place to mitigate risks. You'll ensure that compliance with the ever increasing regulatory, legislative and health and safety requirements are met by working with both the operations and maintenance teams. You'll be the primary point of contact with any subcontractors and you'll have systems in place to qualify them and issue permits to work.
The perfect candidate would ideally hold an appropriate tertiary level qualification (preferably in engineering, environmental, chemical or other relevant major), with a minimum of five years industrial experience, two of which are in the water and wastewater network industry. However, we do recognise the significant value and opportunity for those candidates who have relevant transferable skills and who fancy a change in industry.
