We are looking for expressions of interest from people interested in, and willing to engage in training, or suitably qualified professionals interested in joining our 3 Waters team at our Wastewater Treatment facility.

We want to hear from a diverse range of people. Are you interested in a career in the Water Industry and willing to undertake study, or have you already navigated your study and are you already suitably qualified?

We are looking to fill a single vacancy but are considering any level of expertise, from Cadet through to an experienced Engineer. Below is a brief outline of each of those levels. Training Opportunity Roles:

We are looking for interest from people interested in starting out on the water journey. There are 3 levels of progression in this area and suitable training working towards a qualification would be provided all 3 stages in this section require at least NCEA Lvl 2 or equivalent. Our candidate will have NCEA lvl2 numeracy and literacy skills, and at least a restricted level drivers’ licence and in addition to:

Cadet

No additional qualification over those stated above. You will be involved in assisting with basic maintenance and operational tasks under supervision and directed by senior staff, including maintaining plant equipment and infrastructure. You will participate in routine sampling and compliance monitoring activities in conjunction with senior staff. This role will work towards becoming a Trainee and would undertake on the job training.

Trainee

Additional qualifications over that stated above includes life experience of 2-3 years in a working environment. You will be involved in activities stated in the cadet section but, in some instances, carry out tasks as instructed rather than supervised. This role carries a bit more responsibility than a cadet and will work toward becoming an Apprentice and be required to undertake formal training.

Apprentice

Additional qualifications over that stated above includes life experience of 2-3 years in a working environment. You will be involved in activities stated above, but, in some instance assume more responsibility applying learned skills. You will lead the maintenance of plan equipment and infrastructure. This role will be work towards becoming an Operator and be required to undertake formal training

Qualified Opportunities:

We are looking for interest from people who are suitably qualified and are already in the water space. All these roles require a full class 1 drivers licence. These roles could be:

Operator

This role requires a Level 4 National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment or Level 5 NZ Diploma in Waste water Treatment These roles involve experience in managing the day to day delivery of water and waste water supply operations and you are used to providing technical and operational assistance for other water services activities (wastewater and stormwater). If you speak FACe and worry about BOD we’re keen to hear from you.

Tradesman Operator (Electrician)

This role requires certification as an Industrial electrician with relevant industrial experience. This role will ensure the wastewater treatment pans electrical systems support efficient operation and compliance with environmental standards. You will provide technical support on plant automation and control systems. As a senior member of the Wastewater team, you will provide leadership to the team.

Wastewater Engineer

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience in wastewater treatment or engineering. This role is pivotal in applying advanced engineering principles to optimise the operations and efficiency of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and will work closely with the Wastewater Manager and the operations team. Serving as technical expert, advising on best practice, conducting research and development to advance wastewater management practices.
