Garry Macdonald

Garry is a Senior Principal and Market Segment Business Director for Beca, based in Auckland. He is widely recognised as an expert in wastewater and environmental engineering with over 46 years’ experience in a wide variety of wastewater projects, both in New Zealand and abroad. He has a high profile involvement in many industry organisations, and has been on the boards and Past President of Water NZ, Engineering NZ (IPENZ) and OXFAM NZ, as well as serving two separate multi-year terms on the Board of Trustees for the Water Environment Federation (WEF – based in Washington DC). He has received a number of prestigious industry awards including Water NZ Association Medal, Water NZ Honorary Life Membership and the WEF Engelbrecht Award, and is a WEF Fellow, one of very few outside the USA and Canada. He is a proud member of the NZ Gold Shovel Chapter and is currently its leader as pH7. Garry has presented over 65 technical papers in industry publications and at conferences in NZ, Australia, and USA
