Graeme is Principal Scientist for Natural Hazards and Hydrodynamics at NIWA and is an entertaining and informative speaker. In this talk, he summarises and discusses the occurrence and causes of exceptional national and international flooding that has occurred over the past few years. He will take us on a whirlwind tour of floods around the world, with illustrations and videos of many flood events included in the presentation. As well as describing the events, he delves into the question of why this might be happening, looking at both climate change factors and other climatic patterns that influence our weather.
