The Rural Water Supplies 101 - Digital Badge is a fully online course designed to supply you with a basic understanding of small water supplies.

This course is endorsed by Master Plumbers as a suitable resource for plumbers involved in the installation and maintenance of small drinking water supplies. Plumbers can choose to take EITHER this course or the Small Waters Supplies 101 option.

This course is designed for those supplying or intending to supply a small group of houses (supplying less than 25 people). It will help you get started on your water management journey by taking you through the basic requirements.

Rural Water Supplies 101 (endorsed by Master Plumbers) includes information regarding use of the Acceptable Solutions that have been developed by Taumata Arowai to simplify drinking water management.

By the end of this course you will have a basic understanding of:

  • Who is a water supplier and who isn't
  • Why you need to treat water
  • What laws apply to water supplies
  • Who is the drinking water regulator and what do they do
  • How to comply with the law
  • What potential issues you can expect when dealing with water treatment and supply
  • The basic equipment needed

The course contains a combination of reading, videos, resources and activities for you to complete over a 4-week period, at times that suit you. There is a quiz at the end of the course and upon successful completion, you will be awarded your digital badge.
