Wellington YWPs Emergency Water Station Visit

Networking

In a seismic event, there is no guarantee that water supply can be maintained to all parts of the Wellington region. In some areas, it could take as long as 100 days to repair the water network and restore supply. To address this, Wellington Water and its client councils established the Community Infrastructure Resilience (CIR) project, involving the construction and operation of a number of emergency water treatment plants around the region. In the event of an emergency, these containerised treatment units can treat water from local sources to provide communities with enough water to survive until the water supply networks can be restored. To take you through their operation, Nick Hewer-Hewitt (Network Management Group, Wellington Water) will demonstrate how they work, how they can help our communities in a seismic event, and how you can get involved in the CIR programme.

Refreshments will be enjoyed afterwards at the Berhampore Sprig and Fern.
